However, PLM applications, are not built to be adapted. This article proposes to enable PLM customization using a meta-UI, which aims to allow users to adapt their environments themselves. Here the meta-UI concept is applied to web-based PLM applications. A proof of concept of a PLM Meta-UI has been designed and built. It has been evaluated thanks to a user experiment with 20 professionals. The results tend to show a perceived usefulness of the meta-UI for customization. The participants also raised the advantages of using the meta-UI for their job. In particular, using the meta-UI seems to improve the understanding of concepts underlying PLM applications.", "authors": { "1": { "first_name": "Eliott", "last_name": "Dutronc" }, "2": { "first_name": "Sophie", "last_name": "Dupuy-Chessa" }, "3": { "first_name": "Jean-Marie", "last_name": "Favre" } }, "year": 2025, "uri": "http://iihm.imag.fr/publication/DDF25a/", "id": 1005, "bibtype": "inproceedings", "abbr": "DDF25a", "address": "Sevilla (Spain), Spain", "date": "2025-07-07", "type": "Conférences internationales de large diffusion avec comité de lecture sur texte complet", "booktitle": "IFIP 22nd International Conference on Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)", "type_publi": "icolcomlec" }, { "lang": "en", "type_publi": "icolcomlec", "doi": "https://doi.org/10.1145/3731406.3734975", "title": "A lead for web-based generic PLM personalization with Meta-UI proof-of-concept", "url": "https://hal.science/hal-05329281", "abstract": "Personalization is a well-known need in human-computer interaction. The concept of meta-UI has been proposed to allow endusers to adapt their systems. However the implementations of this concept are, so far, specific to one application, which has been developed with the meta-UI. To ease meta-UI expansion, this paper proposes to add a meta-UI to a type of applications used by workers in their daily work, web based Product Management (PLM) applications. The proposed meta-UI takes advantage of the similarity in the structure of web based PLM applications to be weaved inside the PLM. It has been designed with classic human-computer interaction design techniques by considering the PLM professional context of use. A proof-of-concept has been implemented on top of one PLM in JavaScript thanks to the injection mechanism.• Human-centered computing → Systems and tools for interaction design; • Software and its engineering → Software usability.", "authors": { "1": { "first_name": "Eliott", "last_name": "Dutronc" }, "2": { "first_name": "Sophie", "last_name": "Dupuy-Chessa" }, "3": { "first_name": "Jean-Marie", "last_name": "Favre" } }, "year": 2025, "uri": "http://iihm.imag.fr/publication/DDF25b/", "pages": "21-26", "bibtype": "inproceedings", "id": 1006, "abbr": "DDF25b", "address": "Trier, Germany", "date": "2025-06-23", "type": "Conférences internationales de large diffusion avec comité de lecture sur texte complet", "booktitle": "The 17th ACM SIGCHI Symposium on Engineering Interactive Computing Systems" }, { "lang": "en", "publisher": "ACM", "doi": "https://doi.org/10.1145/3660515.3661330", "title": "Usability inspections based on heuristics: towards a state of practices and requirements for support", "url": "https://hal.science/hal-04617625", "abstract": "User interface evaluation using heuristics is one of the most widely used evaluation methods in Human-Computer Interaction design. However, the quality of heuristic evaluations is highly dependent on the experts who perform them. To limit this bias, recommendations and tools to support some of the evaluation steps are proposed. Considering these recommendations and tools, this article investigates how the heuristics evaluations are really carried out and can be improved. Two studies are performed. First, an online survey investigates how practitioners perform heuristics inspection and studies the tools they used. The answers shows inequalities in the way the different tasks of the inspection process are realized. In particular, there is few well matured practices for proposing feasible solutions to usability problems and transferring inspection results to designers. These tasks are the moments when the knowledge of the experts who carried out the inspection is passed on to the people who will implement the interface. As such, they are particularly dependent on the communication quality. Our second study focused on this communication aspect by studying the use of a serious game, JADE, for usability evaluation. The JADE game has been successfully proposed in teaching to promote communication between learners. Two workshops investigates whether this game can also be a useful tool for experts in their inspection tasks, particularly as a support for exchanges. JADE seems to encourage communic", "authors": { "1": { "first_name": "Eliott", "last_name": "Dutronc" }, "2": { "first_name": "Sybille", "last_name": "Caffiau" }, "3": { "first_name": "Sophie Sdc", "last_name": "Dupuy-Chessa" } }, "year": 2024, "uri": "http://iihm.imag.fr/publication/DCD24b/", "pages": "49-56", "bibtype": "inproceedings", "id": 981, "abbr": "DCD24b", "address": "Cagliari Italy, France", "date": "2024-06-24", "type": "Conférences internationales de large diffusion avec comité de lecture sur texte complet", "booktitle": "EICS '24: The 16th ACM SIGCHI Symposium on Engineering Interactive Computing Systems", "type_publi": "icolcomlec" }, { "lang": "fr", "type_publi": "autre", "title": "Jouer pour inspecter : comment aider les experts à l'évaluation d'une interface", "url": "https://hal.science/hal-04487258", "booktitle": "TeC Ergo IHM", "year": 2024, "uri": "http://iihm.imag.fr/publication/DCD24a/", "bibtype": "unpublished", "abbr": "DCD24a", "authors": { "1": { "first_name": "Eliott", "last_name": "Dutronc" }, "2": { "first_name": "Sybille", "last_name": "Caffiau" }, "3": { "first_name": "Sophie", "last_name": "Dupuy-Chessa" } }, "date": "2024-03-28", "type": "Autres publications", "id": 964 }]);
